This is the day that is going to keep you busy! At our two locations this year in the centre of Dawson City we will be having our Heavy Events located at Minto Park.
Minto Park: if you want to see a group of very dedicated amateurs give it there all, this is the place to be. This is where you will see the caber by tossed, the stone throw, hammer toss and a few more for good measure.
BEFORE COMMISSIONERS TEA PIPE BAND PERFORMANCE
12:30 PM TO 1:15 PM
This will be the location for the Pipe Band performances. There is nothing like hearing the sound of a Pipe Band in the Klondike Valley. You would think they were meant to be played here.
2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Commissioner's Residence: This will be the location for the tradition of the Commissioner's Tea. This is the civilized event in Dawson City that has it's roots well founded in Dawson City's history. If you are a fan of tea served in china cups, finger sandwiches and are willing to dust off your tux or gown (or come as you are), this is the event of the summer for you.
AFTER THE TEA PIPE BAND PERFORMANCE
3:30 PM to 4:15 PM
Commissioner's Celtic Cieldh/BBQ:
GROUNDS OF HISTORIC FORT HERCHMER (BEHIND THE COMMISIONER'S RESIDENCE)
6:00 PM TO MIDNIGHT
This is a new event for 2016. Come with your hunger and a willingness to get your highland fling on! The Dawson Firefighters will be cooking up the best BBQ north of 60. Entertainment will be provided by Vernon's very own, Cod Gone Wild. The Cieldh will be from 6:00 PM until midnight. Get your tickets early. Tickets are available from the Klondike Visitors Association.
